We recently welcomed Zach into the MGA fold for a 3-month work experience placement, having completed a postgraduate degree at university. Zach wanted to experience the creative industry first-hand – both from a Client Services and Creative point of view.

In early March, I was privileged to join the MGA team to embark on a 3-month work experience placement. This exciting opportunity allowed me to get stuck in the busy world of marketing and communications. It allowed me to immerse myself in daily Teams meetings and one-on-one discussions with knowledgeable Account Managers. They were kind enough to share their experience and their own routes into the industry and helped me prepare to move forward with a robust toolkit of knowledge for my own future career progression.
The MGA team has an exciting energy that they apply to every project. During my time, I had the privilege of attending the morning and afternoon workload meetings, where I could attain first-hand experience in briefing and timing new and existing projects.
I had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with many of the MGA and SGA Productions team members, which offered me a fantastic insight into how each business area operates. I found everyone keen and enthusiastic to talk about their own professional journey, which gave me invaluable insight into the skills required to succeed in such a dynamic and fast-paced field.
I was fortunate enough to witness MGA’s expertise with various clients. I was able to contribute and assist in the process of taking a client brief from its initial stages all the way through to final delivery. This included how to structure a Creative Brief, how to cost a project, and an overview of the review process. Through research, strategic thinking, market analysis, and creative expertise, the team delivers successful campaigns over and over.
One aspect that particularly stood out to me was MGA’s supportive and helpful atmosphere. Despite my inexperience in the industry, I was able to approach and discuss any ideas while being encouraged to ask questions and have technical processes explained. MGA’s keen interest in nurturing newcomers into the creative world allowed me to learn and actively participate in a supportive environment.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have gained so much real-world experience and insight. My time at MGA has affirmed my passion for the sector and has set me up well to continue practicing what I’ve learned. The knowledge I’ve acquired, alongside the continued support and relationships I have formed, will undoubtedly shape my future.
As an agency, it’s essential to provide opportunities like this to nurture young talent and give them vital insight into our industry. Having Zach as part of the team was a pleasure, and we wish him all the best with his future career aspirations – someone to look out for, for sure!
