After ten years of running its prestigious Science and Technology Prize, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) wanted to showcase the diversity and achievements of past winners and foster future participation.

What did we find that’s extraordinary? The Prize celebrates scientific research with a significant measurable impact on socio-economic development.

How we extracted the extraordinary

Following interviews with 30 winners across the Muslim world, we built in-depth understanding of the diverse science and technology research taking place in universities and businesses in IsDB Member countries. We used what we learned to produce detailed case studies on the life-changing outcomes the Prize winners’ research generated and captured these stories in a hardbound book. We opened the book with a narrative about the objectives of the Prize and the importance Islam places on the pursuit of knowledge. The book was distributed at the IsDB’s AGM with a call to action for continued excellence in research and participation in the Prize.
